Young Acoli Answer the Call to Rocco Paco
A new generation is stepping forward to take responsibility for the future of Acoli.
On 3 October 2026, young Acoli from universities and institutions of higher learning will gather at Makerere University for the inaugural Gurre me Pongdwongo Students’ Convention 2026, a student-led platform created to place young people at the heart of Rocco Paco and the restoration and socio-economic transformation of Acoli.
Born from the recognition that the wounds of war and displacement damaged livelihoods, social structures and the moral foundations of the community, Rocco Paco looks beyond recovery towards rebuilding a strong, united and self-reliant Acoli society. The Convention asks a powerful question of the generation that will inherit that future: “Kati woko, ka pe in ci anga?”
The day will confront some of the most pressing issues facing young Acoli today: education and university access, unemployment and poverty, inter-generational mentorship, peace, cultural identity and safeguarding Acholi’s material wealth. But this is not intended to end with conversation. Students will participate in working groups, dialogue and the development of commitments designed to turn ideas into collective action.
The ambition is bigger than one gathering. The Convention seeks to build sustained youth participation in Rocco Paco, strengthen unity among Acoli students, develop future leadership and create a generation proud of its heritage and committed to serving its community.
This is their heritage.
This is their responsibility.
This is their moment to help shape the Acoli they want future generations to inherit.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF LADIT OJERA ALEX: A BEACON OF HOPE AND WISDOM

A GREAT LOSS TO OUR COMMUNITY.
It is with profound sadness that Rocco Paco mourns the passing of Ladit Ojera Alex, who departed this life on 8th September 2026 in the United Kingdom.
For those who had the privilege of knowing him, Ladit Ojera Alex was far more than a supporter of Rocco Paco. He was a beacon of hope, a voice of wisdom, and a man whose words gave others courage.
He understood deeply the importance of bringing the Acoli diaspora together. He believed in the power of unity, dialogue and community, and he gave generously of his knowledge, experience and counsel to strengthen that cause.
At times when misinformation, misconceptions and fear threatened to divide and discourage, Ladit Ojera Alex stood firm. He did not retreat. He encouraged others to look beyond the noise, to seek truth and to continue believing in what our people could achieve together.
His support for Rocco Paco was steadfast. He believed in its vision, its purpose and, above all, its potential to serve our people and future generations.
Today, we mourn the loss of a remarkable man. But we also celebrate the life he lived, the wisdom he shared, the courage he demonstrated and the people he inspired.
His voice may now be silent, but his wisdom remains with us. His encouragement remains with us. And his contribution to our community will not be forgotten.
We ask the entire Rocco Paco community, friends and well-wishers to stand with his family at this difficult time, surrounding them with our prayers, love and support.
Rest in peace, Ladit Ojera Alex.

Rocco Paco Leadership Meets with UN-FAO Representative to Discuss Northern Uganda's Future
Kampala, Uganda – Today, a delegation from the Rocco Paco leadership, led by the Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, paid a courtesy call to Mr. Ezana G. Kassa, the UN-FAO Representative in Uganda, at the organization's headquarters in Kampala.
The meeting focused on opportunities to strengthen collaboration in support of sustainable development across Northern Uganda. Discussions covered key priorities including food security, sustainable agriculture, improved livelihoods, environmental conservation, and building resilience to the growing impacts of climate change.
As the Acholi sub-region continues its journey of recovery and development, Rocco Paco remains committed to working alongside national and international partners to create lasting opportunities for local communities. The engagement reflected a shared commitment to empowering farmers, strengthening rural livelihoods, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices that will benefit future generations.
The Rocco Paco delegation reaffirmed its vision of helping build a region where communities are equipped to thrive through innovation, partnership, and responsible stewardship of natural resources.
This courtesy visit marks an important step in fostering collaboration between Rocco Paco and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, with both parties expressing a desire to explore opportunities that will contribute to the long-term prosperity and resilience of Northern Uganda.

The Rocco Paco community proudly announces the Homecoming Ceremony and Retirement Celebration of Chief Justice Emeritus Ladit Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, a moment of profound pride for the Luo and the wider Ugandan community. This historic occasion honours a distinguished son of the region whose decades of service, leadership, and dedication to justice have left a lasting mark on Uganda’s legal system. As he concludes an exceptional career, the community will gather to celebrate his legacy and recognise the inspiration he has provided to generations of Ugandans.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday, 14th March 2026 at 9:00 AM at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu City, and will be attended by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, alongside other national leaders, dignitaries, and members of the judiciary. Community members, leaders, and well-wishers from across the region are expected to join in welcoming him home and honouring this important milestone in an event that reflects unity, pride, and deep appreciation for his remarkable service.
