A Dignified Farewell: Honouring the Legacy of Canon Odong Onyango

A heartfelt ceremony was held in Unyama, Northern Uganda, as the community gathered to honour Ladit Lapwony Canon Odong Onyango, the respected former headteacher of Gulu High School. He was admired for his commitment to education, moral guidance and community upliftment, values that continue to inspire Acholi land.
Ambassador Dr Olara Otunnu attended on behalf of the Rocco Paco Team, returning as an alumnus of Gulu High School. His presence carried deep meaning, reflecting the impact Canon Onyango had on generations of students and on the cultural and moral fabric of the community.
Canon Onyango’s burial at his ancestral home marks the passing of a guiding figure in Northern Uganda’s educational journey. His legacy endures through the many lives he shaped, including prominent leaders who remain rooted in Acholi heritage.
Rest in peace, Lapwony Canon Odong Onyango. Your light continues to guide.

The role requires a strong communicator and organiser with experience in project management, partnership building, resource mobilisation, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee all Rocco Paco activities and programmes.
Manage the Secretariat and ensure efficient operations.
Develop partnerships, outreach, and communication strategies.
Lead grant writing, budgeting, and project reporting.
Ideal Candidate:
A self-starter with at least five years of leadership or project management experience, excellent organisational and writing skills, and fluency in Lwo is an advantage.

Celebration of Life Captured in Akara Village

A vibrant scene of dance and song was captured in Akara Village, Mucwini, as family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Mama Daina Atto Okwir, who was laid to rest the same day.
During the event, participants sang and danced to the Revival song “Wilobo Kulu”, a moment that reflected both joy and remembrance.
Among those taking part was Ambassador Olara Otunnu, seen dancing with his cousin Christine Okwir, daughter of the late Mama Daina.
The celebration honoured Mama Daina’s remarkable and inspiring life, remembered with gratitude and love by all who attended.
Rocco Paco Foundation Mourns with Grace Labol and Family

Over the weekend, the management and staff of the Rocco Paco Foundation visited Grace Labol, our Head of Communications and Branding, to offer condolences following the passing of her mother.
Grace is a devoted member of the Foundation’s leadership team who has given her expertise in communications and branding tirelessly for the good of our people and their rehabilitation.
The Foundation stands with her and her family in mourning this great loss. In the passing of her mother, we have all lost a mother, a source of wisdom, strength and love whose memory will continue to inspire us.
We keep Grace and her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
